Central Square holds off RFA rally

By MIKE LEVIN

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The RFA Black Knights fought valiantly Friday night, but couldn't stop Central Square from scoring, thus RFA fell 48-35 in their home opener.  Red Hawks QB Mitchell Jones threw for 298 yards and two scores as well as one more on the ground.  Anthony Scarfford added 156 yards on just six carries and a score, while catching an 80 yard TD from Jones.

While the Black Knights scored the game's first touchdown in the first quarter, Central Square would then score four straight to take a 28-7 lead at halftime, then again in the third to go up 34-7.

Rich Stapleton led a brief RFA comeback, scoring two of his four TDs in the third to pull the Black Knights within two scores, at 34-21.

With the loss, RFA falls to 0-3, with a big rivarly game with Proctor coming up next week.
