RFA tops Proctor in Raider Classic

By MIKE LEVIN

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The RFA baseball team beat Proctor 4-1 Saturday in the first round of the Raider Classic at Murnane Field.  The two rivals played most of the game under a steady drizzle, though the rain never picked up enough to be delayed.

Both starting pitchers, Proctor's Wendell Wright and RFA's Jeff Cooke, lasted the entire game, with Wright striking out eight and Cooke fanning four.

The Raiders (10-6) scored first, on an RBI single in the first by Gary McConnell, which scored Matt Scotellaro.  But Wright gave up three unearned runs in the third, giving the Black Knights (8-9) the lead which they never relinquished.
