Oriskany wins playoff opener vs. RCH

ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Oriskany baseball team jumped out to an early lead on Rome Catholic and never looked back, winning 10-5 in the first round of the Section III Class D playoffs. The Redskins scored seven unanswered runs, six in the second inning.
Joe Doolen had seven strikeouts and recorded the win for Oriskany. Mike Bunal went 3-4, with a triple, double and a pair of RBIs.
Matt Vacca had a two run home run for the Red Wings, who staged a comeback after going down 10-2.
Oriskany, the five seed in the Class D Section III tournament, advances to meet the winner of Brookfield and Otselic Valley in the Quarterfinals on Thursday.
