NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The N.Y. Mills boys and girls basketball teams both won their games at Beekman Gym Saturday. In the afternoon, the Lady Marauders topped Rome Catholic 77-10. In the nightcap, the boys beat V-V-S 60-37.
In the girls game, the Lady Marauders took a 16-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, then held the Red Wings scoreless in the second, to take a 34-5 at the half. Cassidy Albright scored a career high 31 points, while Carly Dziekan added 19.
In the boys game, the Red Devils hung with the Marauders, trailing by one, 11-10, at the end of the first, then 23-15 at the half. But after outscoring V-V-S by nine in the third, the Marauders took a 47-30 lead heading into the final quarter.
Nick Comenale led all scorers with 17, while Zach Vennaro added 12. Nine players scored for Mills (12-1).
Former NEWSChannel 2 Athlete of the Week Dalton Cousin led the Red Devils with 13 points.
