Red Raiders top Indians in season opener

SAUQUOIT VALLEY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Section II's Mechanicville beat Sauquoit 22-6 in a non-league game on Friday night.

It was the Indians getting on the board in the first on a 53 yard touchdown run by Dylan English. However six turnovers hurt the Indians on what was really a good game for the fans.

Sal Cimino and Adam Dunne had touchdowns for the Red Raiders. This game was supposed to be played in Mechanicville but Tropical Storm Irene caused major flooding making their field unplayable.

As a result, Sauquoit offered to host the non-league game. The Indians booster club also donated the proceeds from Friday nights game to the Mechanicville athletic department.
