Sauquoit edges Mt Markham on opening night


SAUQUOIT, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Sauquoit Valley football team clipped nearby rival Mount Markham 32-28 on the opening night of the season Friday.  Zach Freeman returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, while also catching a TD pass from Korey Lewandrowski.  Jason Simon also returned an interception 47 yards for a touchdown.

For the Mustangs, Eric Taylor-Holmes rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown, wihle also returning a kick 75 yards for a score.

Sauquoit Valley will begin its Class D East schedule next Friday night, when they visit Morrisville-Eaton/Hamilton.  Mt Markham will host Frankfort-Schuyler, also on Friday.
