UTICA, NY (WKTV) - Notre Dame ran all over Waterville's defense on Friday night, rushing for five touchdowns in a 34-14 Class D East victory.
Caden Romeo ran for three of the scores on runs of 20, 17, and five yards, and Phil DePerna added the other two on 69- and 71-yard runs on back-to-back drives in the third quarter for a 27-0 lead. Waterville got into the end zone late in the third on a Jordan Orendorff 3-yard keeper after a Notre Dame fumble, and Erik Miller scored the Indians' other touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 7-yard run.
The victory improves Notre Dame to 3-0 (league and overall); Waterville falls to 1-2 (league and overall).
