WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - Watertown-IHC made quick work of Waterville in the first round of the Westmoreland holiday tournament on Friday, taking a 35-19 halftime lead and cruising from there to a 65-50 win.

Connor Caldwell led the Cavaliers with 30 points while teammate Brian Magovney chipped in 13.  Waterville was paced by R.J. Baumgarten and Robert Hughes with 14 points each.

Watertown-IHC, now 7-3 overall, will face Frankfort-Schuyler, a 63-51 upset winner over previously-undefeated host Westmoreland, in the championship game Saturday at 8:00 p.m.  Waterville, now 4-3 overall, plays Westmoreland in the consolation game at 6:00.

The tournament is being played with two 16-minute halves instead of the usual four eight-minute quarters as a trial run for a possible near-future rule change.
