Girls Soccer: Sauquoit wins second straight section title

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Sauquoit Valley girls soccer team won their second straight Section III Class C title Saturday, defeating rival Waterville 3-0 in the C-1/C-2 Crossover game at SUNY Cortland.

Senior Meghan Gaffney scored the first of three second half goals for Sauquoit.  About three minutes later Alex Benn set up Brianne Cardillo for another strike.  Later Elisa Marchione fed Sierra Kiss for the icing on the Sauquoit cake. Vannesa Jecko had five saves for the shutout.

Waterville finished a great run at 11-6.

Sauquoit now advances to the NY State regionals next Saturday at Chittenango against Marathon. Game time is set for 3:30pm.
