By by BRIAN SANDLER

NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - In a youthful matchup that was often ugly as a result, the V-V-S girls basketball team rolled over rebuilding West Canada Valley on Saturday 49-33.

V-V-S, which has no seniors on its roster, jumped out to an 8-0 lead and held West Canada Valley, which has seven new players on its nine-player roster including a freshman and an eighth-grader, scoreless for the first six minutes.  The Lady Indians cut it to 8-6 at the end of the quarter, but the Lady Red Devils used a 15-0 run in the second quarter to pull away.

Tracee Schiebel led V-V-S with 12 points while Jana Medves led WCV with 11.

Both teams are 1-2 overall.
