NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - A lot of missed Westmoreland layups and a lot of West Canada Valley junior Jared Suderley spelled a 63-46 win for the home Indians on Monday.

West Canada Valley, ranked No. 14 in the state in Class C, led 17-16 after the first quarter, but Westmoreland opened the second with an 11-3 run to go up 27-20.  The Indians came back with a 10-2 quarter-closing run led by Suderley, who scored 15 of his game-high 31 points in the quarter including a four-point play with two seconds left for a 33-31 lead at the half.

After Westmoreland tied the game at the start of the third quarter, the Indians broke it open with a 15-2 run to go up 48-35.  A 7-0 spurt to start the fourth quarter made it a 55-38 lead, and the Indians cruised from there.

In addition to the 31 points, Suderley finished with 22 rebounds, four steals and three blocks.  Anthony Ambrose added 11 points and five steals and Zack Lyga also scored 11.  Westmoreland was led by Jason Colburn's 13 points and nine rebounds and Taylor Brockway and Dan DeCarlo also scored in double-figures with 13 and 12, respectively.

The Indians out-rebounded the Bulldogs 42-25 and had 15 steals.

The victory improves West Canada Valley to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in Center State Conference Division III and extends its league winning streak to 23 games dating back to the start of the 2006-07 season.  Westmoreland falls to 8-3 (3-1).
