West Canada's Suderley chooses Hartwick

By By MIKE LEVIN

NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Jared Suderley, star of the West Canada Valley boys basketball team that won the Section III Class C-2 title this season, is headed south to Hartwick in the fall.  The Indians star told NEWSChannel 2 Sports of his decision after a baseball practice this week.  Suderley is playing the national pastime for the first time since sixth grade this fall, but will be back in his familiar hoops surroundings in college.

The NEWSChannel 2 All-Star and former Athlete of the Week said the big factors were location, with Hartwick being only an hour away, as well as comfort with coach Todd McGuinness, who will entering his second year at the Hawks helm next year.

Suderley also said that he sees a great future ahead of him at Hartwick.  He'll be trying to help turn around a team that has just two winning seasons in the last fourteen years.
