By MIKE LEVIN

N.Y. MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - An exciting finish at Ben Ross Field Saturday saw New York Mills come back to beat West Canada Valley 28-27 in a Class D non-league game.  Marauder QB Jimmy Fellone found Fred Russ in the end zone with a minute left in the game for the winning score.

Fellone finished the game with 12 completions on 23 attempts for 178 yards and two touchdowns.  He also threw one interception, to West Canada's Xavier Maxwell in the second quarter.  Russ had five receptions for 83 yards.

Mills struggled to find their offensive groove throughout most of the first half, while West Canada scored two touchdowns,, by Xavier Maxwell (20 yards) and Thomas Roberts (21 yards).

But the Marauders scored before the end of the half, on a seven yard strike from Fellone to Cody Mariotti.  Mills had several chances in the first half, only to turn the ball over, on the interception by Maxwell, and earlier on a fumble recovery after Russ had made a spectacular one handed grab at the Indians 15 yard line.

Joe Prilutsky helped jump start the Marauders in the second half, scoring on a 32 yard run in the third quarter to give Mills a 14-13 lead.  But West Canada answered, as Maxwell scored on a 43 yard TD run to put the Indians back on top 21-14.

Fedor Avrusevich scored on a short TD run for Mills before the end of the quarter to tie up the game at 21, but the Indians again grabbed the lead on a five yard score by Nate George.

However, the Indians failed on their conversion, giving NY Mills the opening they needed.

Prilutsky had 70 yards on six rushes and his touchdown, as well as seven tackles, two for a loss.  Marcus Palmer led the defense with 12 tackles, one for a loss.

With the win, Mills improved to 5-1 on the season, with one game left on their schedule, next Saturday against Oriskany.  West Canada (2-4) will finish up with a night game Friday against South Lewis.
