Big second period for Spartans in the win over Westmo


NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford Spartans made up for a scoreless first period in an 11-0 win over Westmoreland on Wednesday.

Clayton Whittemore, Joe Betar, Jason Fitzgerald and Chris Luker had two goals each with Whittemore and Fitzgerald added two assists as well. The Spartans scored seven goals in the second period and finished up with four more in the third. Tyler Kraft finished with 18 saves in the shutout win.

The Spartans improved to 5-1 overall, 4-0 in the league. Westmoreland's Brandon Crane, who stopped 25 shots in the first, finished with 39 saves. The Bulldogs are now 2-5-1.
