WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - It's been a tough season for Westmoreland, but Saturday they kept Sauquoit at bay to take a 22-0 victory at home. The two time defending section champs capped off a sluggish first half with an exciting 35 yard touchdown pass from Zack Green to Jason Colburn with a second to go in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead at the break.
The Bulldogs first score was a one yard run by Hassan Griffith, set up by a 44 yard run by Tyler Barnes in the second quarter. Westmo's final score came on a 61 yard interception return by Marvin Sherman in the fourth quarter.
Green, starting his second game at quarterback in place of the injured Dan Smith, completed three of eight passes for 45 yards, while also rushing for 63 yards on 15 carries. Barnes had 80 yards on nine carries, as well as five tackles and a blocked punt on defense. Griffith added 48 yards on nine carries, including his TD.
Mark Martin had 111 yards rushing and added 53 yards receiving.
Westmoreland (4-1, 3-0 Class C South) will host Mount Markham next Saturday, while Sauquoit (2-3, 1-2 Class C South) will host Canastota on Friday.
