Westmo wins Battle of Cider Street

By MIKE LEVIN

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - Despite the absence of Player of the Year candidate Tim Harrison, the Westmoreland football team shutout Oriskany 35-0 in the annual Battle of Cider Street.  Tyler Deveans threw for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for 52 yards and another score to lead the Bulldogs, who will be one of the top seeds in Class D when the sectional brackets are released Sunday.

Westmo (6-1, 6-0 D Central) won their sixth straight game, despite Harrison spending most of the game on the sideline, nursing an ankle that was sprained the previous week against Sandy Creek.

Joe Becker also added 98 yards on the ground on 11 carries as well as a TD for the Bulldogs.  Tyler Taverne also played a big role for Westmo, with a 47 yard TD reception, 83 total yards and some big plays of defense.
