Whitesboro tops Indian River in season opener

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Whitesboro Warriors started off the season on a good note with a 41-29 win over Indian River on Friday night.

Adam Eberly, making his debute as the Warriors starting quarterback, rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown. He also threw one to Connor Passalaqua. Mike Bunal added two rushing touchdowns as did Steve Almond.

With the game tied at 14 at the half, Indian River took a  20-14 lead on the third quarter opening kick off return by Rayshan-Shakur Clark. That's when Almond, Bunal and Eberly scored third quarter touchdown to give the home Warriors the lead for good.

Indian River's Darius Bryant rushed for over 200 yards and a score on the night.

With the win, Whitesboro improves to 1-0 and will travel to Cortland next Friday night.
