WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - After dominating much of the first half of their 2013 season opener, the Whitesboro football team failed to score in the second half, falling 15-14 to RFA, as the Black Knights scored the go ahead touchdown with less than a minute to go.
Brad Dougherty got in the end zone after an RFA fumble recovery, Dougherty's second TD of the game. Dougherty also scored late in the first half, putting the Black Knights on the board and cutting Whitesboro's lead at that point to 14-7, at which the scored remained until halftime.
Dougherty finished with 87 yards on the game and his two touchdowns for the Black Knights, who went winless last season.
Whitesboro opened up the scoring in the first quarter, as T.J. Eberley ran for 25 yards, setting up a short TD run by Warrior QB Bodhi Forbes.
The two teams traded a series of turnovers, finishing late in the quarter, when RFA QB Angus Evans was picked off by Ed Zegarelli, who returned the interception for a touchdown.
Next week, Whitesboro heads to Carthage, while RFA plays their home opener against Corcoran.
