ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Whitesboro Warriors gave it all they had but it was not enough to beat the number one ranked team in the state. Rochester Aquinas beat Whitesboro 35-12 in the Class A state semifinal on Friday night at Marina Auto Stadium on Rochester.
Five different players scored for the 'Lil Irish. Whitesboro's first touchdown came on special teams as Connor Passalacqua blocked a punt and Adam Eberley picked up the loose ball for the score. That cut the Aquinas lead to 7-6.
However, that was their only score until late in the second quarter when Eberley passed on the halfback option to Mike Sullivan for a nine-yard touchdown. That cut the lead to 21-12 at the half. That was the last score of the game for the Warriors.
Aquinas advances to the state final against Harrison at the Carrier Dome next Friday at 2pm. Whitesboro finishes 10-2 for the second straight season.
