Utica Brewers on fence with loss to Shanon Fence

By BRIAN SANDLER

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO (WKTV) - With a chance to win the National Amateur Baseball Federation College Division Regional Tournament and earn a berth to the World Series, the Utica Brewers stumbled on Sunday night, losing to Shanon Fence 5-2.

The game was tied 2-2 in the seventh, then Shanon Fence, from Cleveland, scored three unearned runs to pull ahead.

The result creates a three-way tie in the round-robin tournament with two teams at 1-1 and Utica at 2-1, and since the Brewers have already played their three games, their fate is now out of its hands.  If Shanon Fence wins on Monday morning, it will win the tournament based on its head-to-head win over Utica, but if if loses, Utica will win the tournament thanks to the best record.
