NEW BERLIN, N.Y. (WKTV) - Fan favorite and three-time Unadilla champion Kevin Windham is taking a break from a summer off to return to the famed track for its 40th Pro National Motocross Championship race this weekend.

Windham says the track, which is unique in that it uses natural terrain that's built into its surroundings instead of built on top of them, fits his finesse style even though it's trickier to navigate.  He also loves the crowd response from the 20,000-plus that come annually.

"It's incredible.  The fans here are really into what's going on," says Windham, who will race in the smaller 250cc class this year instead of the 450cc.  "They're patriotic and they fly the flags, and it's an awesome feeling.  They love motocross here, and we love bringing it to them.  So for sure the crowd will be a part of this race, they always are, and it's great to take that hot lap and hear everybody yelling.  And even through the race we can hear them, and it's great to race in front of them."
