UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - USA Luge is looking for a few good sliders. Perhaps someone from Central New York will fit the bill.

On Saturday and Sunday, August 22-23, young athletes who want to experience the thrill of luge and train under the guidance of USA Luge national team coaches and athletes can do so when the USA Luge Slider Search rolls into Utica. The event will be held on Cornelia St. between Court St. & Columbia St., from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

"We'll give them all the basics by teaching them how to lay on it and how to drive it. Then they can take runs down the hills on luge sleds with wheels" says Fred Zimny, national luge team manager. "It's a very basic introduction and we hope to find some diamonds in the rough and invite them to an on ice training camp in Lake Placid this winter."
