Local fans head to Buffalo to see SU play in NCAA Tournament

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKTV) - The excitement that is the NCAA Tournament started early Thursday.

However, the one team that most people across the Mohawk Valley are rooting for - Syracuse University - won't play until Friday. Despite that, it was evident from the crowds of fans making their way to the city of Buffalo that there would be plenty of Orange to see this weekend.

Adam Roorda and Craig Tangorra are on Spring Break this week. While most college kids head south for warmer weather, these two are headed west to Buffalo to see the Orange play in the tournament.

"I told everyone on Facebook I'm going," Roorda said.

The two friends from Herkimer said they often get to go to the dome for Syracuse games. As good as those games can be, they said they can't wait to see an NCAA tournament game live.

"It will be great, the excitement of it all," Tangorra said.

Both Tangorra and Roorda said they know they were lucky to score tickets. Syracuse University only got a small allotment, but secondhand outlets, such as the Internet, have plenty of tickets at higher than face value prices. These two fans, however, said the money spent on access, is money well worth it.

"They will go all the way," Tangorra said. "They'll beat Kentucky, I hope."
