LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The MV DiamondDawgs lost to Watertown 7-6 on Friday night in their home opener at Veteran’s Memorial Park
The Wizards jumped out to a quick lead after a home run by Brandon Roush (Texas Pan-American University). The DiamondDawgs went through four pitchers as the Wizards put up 8 hits for 7 runs to take a 7-1 lead late in the game. The Mohawk Valley bats were kept silent for most of the game with the exception of a solo home run in the by David Del Grande (Sacramento State University).
However, the DiamondDawgs bats caught fire in the 9th as they rallied to score five runs in the ninth and had the winning run at the plate in Joe Carcone (Bryant University) before the rally ended with a ground out to the second baseman.
The winning pitcher was Bryan Chudy (Clarkson University) and Joe Michaud (Bryant University) picked up the loss for the DiamondDawgs. The Dawgs travel to Amsterdam on tomorrow to play the Mohawks and are back home on Sunday to face off against Albany.
