Fans can help vote Cook into NASCAR HOF

Fans of local racing legend Jerry Cook still have a few days to let their voices be heard as the NASCAR Hall of Fame wraps up its fan vote.  Cook, a six time NASCAR Modified Series Champion at Rome native, waged a classic rivalry with 2010 HOF Inductee Richie Evans back in the 1970s at the "Home of Heroes"

With the Speedway affiliated with NASCAR again for the first time since 1998, as part of the Whelen All-American Series, Cook's candidacy is a reminder for fans who watched him during the old NASCAR Modified days.

To vote for Cook, go to the NASCAR Hall of Fame website.  Voting is unlimited and lasts until Tuesday at noon.  The five nominees with the most votes will make up the fan ballot, which will be submitted during voting on Wednesday.

The Utica-Rome Speedway's 2014 season is already underway and is scheduled for their third event of the season this Sunday.  It's Mirabito Fuel Group Night, with the first ever edition of the "Gnome Cup" to be up for grabs in a Late Model Series event.

For more information, head to the Utica-Rome Speedway's official website.
