Hotel Utica named official 'Hotel of the Comets'

UTICA, N.Y.- Utica Comets President Robert Esche, in collaboration with Hotel Utica General Manager David Cocomazzi, have announced that Hotel Utica will be the Official Hotel of the Utica Comets.

“We are really happy to announce our partnership with the historic Hotel Utica.” said Comets President Robert Esche, “We are excited to be able to display such a beautiful and nostalgic hotel not only to visiting teams, but our team as well. Being able to partner with a local business is, once again, a point of pride for us.”

Hotel Utica General Manager, David Cocomazzi, added “On behalf our team at Hotel Utica we are excited and proud to be a part of this great community endeavor and plan to be great ambassadors for the city.”

Hotel Utica opened its doors in 1912 to commercial travelers and sophisticates. The hotel was originally a 10-story building with 200 rooms, four dining rooms, a ballroom, as assembly hall, a restaurant for ladies, and a grill and café for gentlemen. Hotel Utica boasts in impressive roster of past guests. President Frankin D. Roosevelt, Hopalong Cassidy, Mae West and Mickey Mantle have all called the hotel home, at least for one night. In 2001, Hote Utica underwent $13 million of renovations and that included meticulous restoration of every detail of the hotel. In 2002, Hotel Utica proudly joined the prestigious National Trust Historic Hotels of America as an affiliate hotel. The Renaissance Revival-style hotel is now one of 180 hotels and resorts throughout the nation recognized for its historic integrity, architecture and ambiance.
