Local girls youth hockey team wins NYS Championship

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The CNY Bobcats girls 14 & under ice hockey team won the New York State Amateur Hockey Association Tier II Championship this past weekend at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex in Rochester, NY.  
The Bobcats defeated the Troy-Albany Icecats 3-1, the Westchester Wild 3-1, and the West Seneca Wings 4-0 in round robin play.  The Bobcats defeated the Amherst Lady Knights 3-1 in the semifinals and defeated West Seneca 3-0 in the championship game.  
Devyn Farrell had two goals and Kerry Carr had a goal and an assist in the championship game, and Jessica Foote stopped 17 shots for the shutout in goal.
The team now becomes one of 12 to advance to the USA Hockey 14 & under Tier II National Championship Tournament in Amherst, NY, April 2-6.

The CNY Bobcats are the only all girls ice hockey association in the Mohawk Valley.  Teams are composed of players from all across Oneida and surrounding counties, and skate primarily at Clinton Arena and Rome's JFK Arena.
