Mother's Day event showcases U-R Speedway


VERNON, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica-Rome Speedway is back as a NASCAR affiliated track for the first time since 1998 and their Mother's Day event showcased the Home of Heroes.  Local boy Willy Decker scored the victory in the first of two twenty lap Modified Series races.  In the second, Pat Ward passed Mike Maheny on the final lap to claim victory.

In other action Sunday, Jeremy Vunk won the Sportsman race, Mark Effner took the Pro Stock and Ron Hawker repeated as Pure Stock champion.

The next event at the track is Sunday, May 18th, with the Go Nuclear Late Model Series joining the regular Modified, Sportsman, Pro Stock and Pure Stock races.
