Yard Dawgs edge Oneonta in opener

SAUQUOIT, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Utica Yard Dawgs won their 2013 season opener Saturday night, 14-7 over the Oneonta Stallions.  Keith Jay scored the game winner touchdown in the closing moments, off a botched field goal attempt.

The Stallions got the first score of the game at the end of the first half, on an 82 yard interception return touchdown by J.J. Jones, thrown by Jay.

But the Yard Dawgs tied it up thanks to a 42 yard TD run in the third quarter by Justin Pearson.  The Frankfort native rushed for 92 yards on 13 attempts.

The Yard Dawgs gained 195 of their 254 total yards on the ground, while holding Oneonta to only 81 total yards.
