Palmieri heading back east

By MIKE LEVIN

NEW YORK - Clinton native Nick Palmieri is heading back to the east coast, as the Minnesota Wild traded both Palmieri and Dorrell Powe to the New York Rangers for Mike Rupp.

Palmieri was traded to the Wild by the New Jersey Devils last year, but has spent all of this season with Minnesota's AHL affiliate, the Houston Aeros all this season.  He has ten goals and eleven assists.

In his NHL career with New Jersey and Minnesota, Palmieri has scored thirteen goals and assisted on twelve more.

Although expected to be sent to Connecticut in the AHL, Palmieri may stay with the Rangers for the time being, as they are low on depth at the forward position.  NY's next game is Tuesday night against Palmieri's old team, the Devils.
