U.S. Senators to be drinking NY micro brews after Super Bowl bet

Thanks to the New York Giants Super Bowl win on Sunday, some U.S. Senators will soon be receiving some Saranac beer, as a result of a wager between Senator Chuck Schumer and his New Hampshire colleague Jeanne Shaheen.

As part of the bet, Shaheen will purchase beer from six of New York's craft breweries, including Saranac, for each member of the senate. New York's senior senator calls the whole bet a win-win.

"The loser, which is now her, has to serve a six pack of a New York micro brew to every senator," Schumer said. "And once these senators start drinking our New York micro brews, they are going to buy them all. So it's going to help our beer industry here in upstate New York."

Schumer is pushing to expand New York brewers' market share as part of the "I Love New York Brew" campaign.
