SU duo handed back to back losses

By MIKE LEVIN

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A pair of Syracuse Orange players leading King of Kings basketball teams both lost on Monday night at Notre Dame high school.  Brandon Triche's JD's Finest were defeated 76-70 by Upstate Swagger, while James Southerland's Utica Select fell 90-65 to Dream Chasers.

In the first game of the night, former Juggler and current Colgate Raider Pat Moore had 21 points for the Chasers.  A close game at halftime, the Chasers pulled away in the second half.  NY Mills grad Matt Welch chipped in seven points, though a trio from LeMoyne had bigger contributions.  Brian Zapisek led the team with 26 points, while Derrek Tartt had twelve and James Janson added eleven.

Southerland led all scorers with 36, though his team only had five players, so the SU guard was forced to play the whole game.  Former Proctor Raider and current SUNYIT Wildcat T'Andre Richardson added 21 for Select.

In game two, Triche's 16 points and Alshawn Hynes's 17 helped JD's Finest stay close, but Scott Morton had the game high, with 23, for Upstate Swagger.  Sean Burton, another former ND Juggler, added 15.
