SU streak continues with blowout of Monmouth

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Seven players scored in double-digits for the #4/4 Orange (8-0) in the 108-56 victory against Monmouth (5-5) on Saturday evening in the Carrier Dome.

Syracuse extended its home winning streak to 28 straight games, while also stretching its unbroken mark of non-conference, regular-season victories to 50.

" This team is looking for each other and passing the ball. Thirty assists is pretty good. People are looking for each other, finding open people and that is good," said head coach Jim Boeheim.

Senior Brandon Triche led the Orange offense with 18 points, adding eight assists and five rebounds. Sophomore Michael Carter-Williams posted his fourth consecutive game with a double-double, notching 15 points and 16 assists. His career-high assists mark ranks third on SU's single-game record list, trailing on Sherman Douglas (22) and Pearl Washington (18).

Junior C.J. Fair hit back-to-back games with a double-double, tallying 14 points and 10 rebounds. Redshirt freshman Trevor Cooney recorded a personal-best, totaling 15 points,and marking his third game with double-digit scoring.

Leading by one point at 19-18 with 11minutes remaining in half, the Orange responded with an 8-2 run to set the score at 27-21. Syracuse used an 11-0 run, capped off by two huge blocks from Fair and sophomore Rakeem Christmas to command a 14-point lead at 35-21.

From there, the Syracuse did not look back, cruising to a 22-point advantage heading into the locker room at 57-28.

Following the break, the Orange started off the second half on a 13-0 run, led by freshman DaJuan Coleman and Triche, who each had five points during streak, to give SU a 42-point edge at 70-28. It's the largest lead that SU has held against an opponent all season.

Syracuse did not let its advantage dip below the 40-point mark for the rest of the game, as the Orange finished with its first triple-digit score since March 5, 2011 when SU beat DePaul 107-50.
