Syracuse Orange prepare for next NCAA challenge

By ANDREW DONOVAN

CLEVELAND (WKTV) - The Syracuse Orange are preparing for the second round of the NCAA Tournament. They will take on Marquette in the last game of the day Sunday.

In the first round, the Orange seemed to have a relatively easy time. S.U. senior Rick Jackson and the rest of the veterans helped the orange build up a nice 18 point lead. However, they gave just about all of it away. ISU managed to get within four points midway through the second half, but freshman C.J. fair played a big role, hitting some big shots, and getting some big rebounds to hold off the Sycamores. The final score, 77-60.

Marquette, who upset Xavier in their first round game, was a team Syracuse did not have an easy time with earlier in the year. They lost to the Golden Eagles in Milwaukee on January 29.

NEWSChannel 2 will be live blogging the game on WKTV.com starting around 7:30. Pat Bailey is courtside in Cleveland and Steve McMurray, Jason Powles, Mike Levin and Andrew Donovan will be joining in from their locations in Central New York. We invite you to join the conversation.
