Rookie Dustin Johnson wins Turning Stone Resort Championship

By The Associated Press

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Rookie Dustin Johnson sank an 8-foot  birdie putt on 18 to win the Turning Stone Resort Championship. Johnson, who had never won on the PGATour, shot a final round 3-under 69 on Sunday to beat Robert Allenby by one shot.

Moments earlier, Allenby's 12-foot putt for birdie to tie stopped inches short of the hole. Six players near the top the leaderboard at the start of play Sunday were seeking their first career win. But Tag Ridings, Kyle Thompson, Jeff Overton, Brian Davis, and Jason Day fell short. Seven players tied for third including veterans Davis Love III and Charles Howell III.

Johnson won $1.08 million to jump from 128th on the money list into the top 100.
