September

September began with the tropics influencing our weather for the final time in 2006. Tropical Storm Ernesto's remnants lifted north and brought us about a half inch of rain and some pretty decent wind gusts of 20-40 mph.

Clouds, showers and fog dominated the 4th, 5th and 6th. We nearly hit 80 on September 8. Quiet weather arrived for September 11th. In fact, numerous reports of frost came in from the Adirondacks on the morning of the 11th. A rainy, gloomy set of days arrived on the 13th through the 16th. The 20th brought in some interesting weather, as significant lake effect rain showers developed. Heavy rain fell primarily to our north, but here was the damage:

The remainder of the month was quiet with nothing more than a few shots of rain here and there. Temperatures were generally cool, as autumn had set in a bit early. Foliage ranged from brilliant at times in parts of the Adirondacks to generally dull in a lot of areas as we went from September to October.
