November

November started out quietly. But by the 3rd, our first significant storm brought over 20" of snow to Glenmore and West Leyden up north:

Here's a recap of the event. Here are photos from the event. This event brought Utica our first inch of snow for the year. Quiet weather persisted beyond this until the 8th when we had some steady rain. Then, by the 11th, more heavy rain arrived, dumping over an inch. Few problems were reported from that. But after persistent drizzle and showers continued, a new storm brought even heavier rain for the 16th.

On top of that, strong winds also occurred in a squall line that prompted numerous severe thunderstorm warnings. A 74 mph gust occurred on top of the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. A recap can be found here, with photos in the weather photo gallery. A recap from NWS Binghamton is here and one from Albany is here.

Quiet weather continued into Thanksgiving, although a little bit of freezing drizzle occurred on Thanksgiving morning. Mild weather lasted into the rest of the month, when we hit a record high on November 30th...a sure sign of things to come.
