More than a foot of snow expected in some places, portion of Broad Street closed

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Mohawk Valley is being hit by a winter weather storm that could bring more than a foot of snow to portions of the region by the end of Friday.

The new information early Friday morning has brought the storm just a tad more to the south. This ends concern for a rain/snow mix, even across the southern valleys.

With the slight shift in the storm, areas north of the valley will see lesser amounts of snow, while areas south of the valley look to get hit hard. The front end of the storm will deliver the most snow this morning, followed by bonus snow with the deformation zone this afternoon.

The City of Utica has declared a snow emergency. All parked cars must be off city streets by 10:00 p.m.

ROAD CLOSING: Broad Street between John Street and the North Genesee Street bridge is closed due to a DPW truck obstructing the road. The truck apparently dropped its load of salt, which is not impeding traffic.
