Wet and snowy weather cause weather hazard in area counties

WEATHER ALERT (WKTV) - Wet and snowy weather has forced the New York State Police to issue a weather hazard warning for Southern Herkimer, as well as Southern Fulton, Montgomery and Schoharie Counties.

Also included in this alter were Western Schenectady, Eastern Schenectady, Western Albany, Eastern Albany, Western Greene-Eastern, as well as Western and Eastern Ulster Counties.

A mix of rain, sleet and snow is expected to continue over the higher terrain of the Eastern Catskills and adjacent areas through the afternoon. Radar shows an area of heavier precipitation moving through the region.

Accumulations of a few inches of snow and sleet are possible, especially over the higher terrain.

Motorists should use caution this afternoon, especially on untreated roads.
