Severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 8PM.  For more details click here

Flash flood watch in effect for areas east of Utica for the remainder of the day.  Locally heavy rain this afternoon may produce some localized flooding.

Good morning Central New York!  A soggy start to your Sunday, and I don't foresee much in the way of improvements as we head into the afternoon.  Expect rain this morning, tapering off to showers by afternoon.  We may see a period of dry weather early this afternoon, but there's still the threat for thunderstorms this afternoon.  Some storms this afternoon have the potential for gusty winds and small hail.  Afternoon highs are going to struggle to hit 80.  Some storms also are capable of producing locally heavy rain.  A general 1-2" is expected from the Mohawk Valley north today.  Due to the potential for heavy rain in a short time, a flash flood watch is in effect for areas east and north of Utica for today.

A disturbance in the upper atmosphere now looks to park itself over us for much of next week, bringing daily chances of showers and isolated thunderstorms Monday through Wednesday...along with seasonable temperatures. We should clear things out for the end of the week.
