The last week in April was Severe Weather Awareness Week in New York. The damaging wind event in the Town of Lee reminded us all that we're definitely in season for severe weather.

Because of this, we've put together a 4 part series in our Weather Blog on Severe Weather Safety and Awareness, so you know what we're talking about when we rattle off terms like "Severe Thunderstorm Warning" or "Tornado Watch." Also, some of the common sense things you just might not think of during thunderstorms. We'd advise everyone to review these entries for yourself, so you're prepared for severe weather. It may seem redundant or a little silly at times, but there has always been someone that hasn't followed the safety precautions and has paid for it. You don't want to end up being that person. So take some time and go back over the severe Weather Info in our blog. Feel free to send any questions to weather@wktv.com.

Part I: Severe Thunderstorms/Lightning

Part II: Tornadoes/Damaging Wind Events

Part III: Flash Flooding

Part IV: Weather Radios, WKTV's Coverage, and the May 4 Greensburg Tornado (New!)
