Cleaning out Halleck's Ravine in preparation of heavy rains

By NEWSChannel 2 Staff

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - DPW crews in the City of Utica were out ahead of the rain over the last 24 hours.

Construction is almost complete at Halleck's Ravine and DPW Commissioner Dave Short says his crews hit all the trouble spots around the city and are ready in case of minor flooding.

"Flush the lines, clean catch basins, keep and eye on Halleck's Ravine, make sure the dam is clear of debris which it is, again check catch basins and make sure the streets are clear in those trouble areas," Short said of what crews had been busy doing since Wednesday.

Short also wanted to remind residents that green waste should be in a container and if it isn't, to be diligent and remove it from the street to keep the gutters clear of debris.
