Oneida Nation golf courses have earliest opening ever thanks to mild temperatures

VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Seasonal workers are on the job early for parts of the Oneida Nation, thanks to warmer temperatures this spring.

On Monday, the Oneida Nation opened up two of its golf courses - the Shenendoah and Kaluhyat golf courses. Two other courses, Sandstone Hollow and Pleasant Knolls golf courses (both 9 holes) already opened on March 17, their earliest opening date ever.

Atunyote Gold Course opens on April 9.

"We have about 200 people who come in seasonally," said Vice President of Human Resources Dana Sovocool. "Seasonal workers are important in many aspects, certainly here at the golf courses, and certainly in serving our guests directly."

The Turning Stone's seasonal employees also work at the nation's pools, and at the RV Park.
