Whitesboro School officials make alternative arrangements for Parkway students

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Parkway Middle School, the home of sixth grade students in the district, saw some significant flooding inside the building on only the second day of school. Classes were cancelled Thursday, but the district will be open on Friday.

The school sits on the banks of the Sauquoit Creek, which is to blame for Thursday's flooding.

In the basement of the school, a fire was caused by a transformer. HAZMAT crews, school leaders and county emergency management personnel were at the campus Thursday.

Superintendent Dave Langone says that the students of Parkway Middle School will go to classes Friday at the main Middle School building next door on Oriskany Boulevard.
