35th running of the Boilermaker complete

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The 35th annual Boilermaker Road Race has come to a close with the largest field in the race's history and some special festivities to mark the anniversary.

Thousands of runners crossed the finish line in West Utica and had a celebratory Saranac after finishing the 15K Road Race Sunday morning. A field of 14,000 people were registered for the15K Road Race and 4,000 were signed up for the 5K Road Race.

The Ethiopians dominated the Boilermaker this year, taking both the men's and women's elite fields. On the men's side it was Tilahun Regassa with a time of 43:01. On the women's side it was Mamitu Daska with a time of 49:26.

United States Senator Chuck Schumer was in Utica for the race.
