Academy's Summer Event


Join us at The Academy of Performing & Creative Arts (APCA) in Clinton, Saturday August 28 from 1pm-5pm for an afternoon of music and dance entertainment as well as great food.

Conveniently located one block down from the local Dunkin Donuts on Taylor Avenue, come support local and professional vocalists and musicians in Classical Music, Musical Theater, Jazz & Blues, Pop & Rock as well as dancers in ballet, hip-hop and ballroom who will strut their style and talent in free performances throughout the afternoon. In addition, wonderful art work drawn and painted by APCA’s resident artist, Florence DiGennaro will grace the walls, in a gallery format for viewing. Pieces in Charcoal, Ink, and Oil paint will feature her personal style and classical art techniques.

Enjoy your performances in a bright and airy state of the art performing arts facility with central air-conditioning, beautiful dance floors and convenient on-site parking.

Schedule of events:
1pm-1:40pm: Lynn Jacobs, folk/rock guitarist and vocalist (outdoor stage), Latin Ballroom demonstration (indoor stage) led by a free class in Merengue.

2pm-2:40pm: Jazz & Rhythm and Blues with Catherine Russo. Follow the sounds of her sultry crooning as she brings you back into the world of jazz, while Smooth Swing dancers Marty Comstock and Joni Trombetta showcase their dancing style to her music (indoor stage). Kit Pang, hip hop choreographer and dancer (outdoor stage), shares his creative and highly entertaining dance style. There will also be a free Hip Hop class offered.

3pm-3:40pm: Studio U Ballet and director, Sandra Stanton, will present a short Ballet performance followed by a short interactive class open to the general public for “Yoga for Kids ages 5-12” and “Everyday Yoga for adults”. All children participating must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your own yoga mat (indoor stage).

4pm-4:40pm: Classical meets Cabaret, join vocalist Charito Byrne and talented students of APCA in a live performance of some of the world’s best loved classical tunes and songs from the stage (indoor stage). Kit Pang will have another Hip Hop demonstration (outdoor stage).
