"Adirondack Al" a resident of the DEC Lake Durant campsite (between Indian and Blue Mountain Lakes) is fat and sassy during tourist season...and he gets table service on his own terms. Bold as brass, Al will approach humans to solicit nuts and other cuisine If a visitor/admirer/benefactor offers Al (ok, maybe Alice..who checks?) a nut between their fingers..Al will gently nip their fingers twice ..telling the thoughtful feeder to drop the nut for the nippy chippy to enjoy at leisure. This nip and drop behavior was repeated several times and indicates Al (ice) has a lot of experience dealing with humans...knowing just how hard to nip not to break skin or cause a bad reaction from the human.like withdrawal of foot.
Anybody who underestimates the intellect of animals, their ability to learn.,..or many species potential for companionability for humans in is truly missing out on a marvelous aspect of life in this heaven on earth. Don't be one of these clueless humans. Get out the Adirondacks and visit Al (ice)...or just say hello to Brinckerhoff Billy the Bunny and his posse if you see them hopping around the Cornhill/East Utica residential districts.

You recently commented on my Iron Mine Story. I was surprised about airborne lead. Runoff from that mine runs down hill to a creek that feeds my village's reservoir.
