Within ten miles north of Kane Mountain are the Good Luck Mountain Cliffs. The elevation gain during the climb is similar to Kane's 600 foot gain. To get there pick up route 10. Go north of Caroga and Pine Lake, past the Stoner Lakes, cross the Sacandaga River West Branch Twice, and the parking area will be on the right. There are many parking spots and trail heads. Make sure there is a sign saying Good Luck Lake.
The trail itself has many branches. At the parking area there are two trail heads across the road. The one on the left is unmarked and leads to the north shore of Good Luck lake (1st and 2nd picture). The one on the right has a sign pointing in that reads Good Luck Lake along with other destinations. Take that one to get to the Good Luck Mountain cliffs. About a half mile in is the register box with two trails branching off. Continue left along the main trail. After awhile the lake comes in view on the left. On the right, before a large bridge, is the side trail for the cliffs. Look for an arrow and some ribbons marking the trail. Follow it carefully. It climbs steeply along a stream and can be obscure. Further down the main trail is a junction for other destinations.
From the cliffs I had an excellent view of the wind turbines toward the west and southwest. It was better than the view from Kane. I have noticed recently that Dairy Hill in the town of Norway has completed Turbines. If you zoom into the third photo, behind the radio tower, more turbine clusters can be seen far in the background. I'm thinking those could be the ones between Sangerfield and Cazenovia. Windmills are showing up everywhere. Below the cliffs Spectacle Lake can be seen.
