Well MR. moose decided to settle down in the hills of Steuben where there seams to be a population of cows. Owners of the farm said MR. moose has been around a couple of days now and seems very polite about things and has been as close as 10feet from people here on the farm and is not very nervous about people. Folks there on the farm are keeping their dog from this beast as the two will never get along. Many folks have been visiting the farm at evening to see this beauty of a creature. I may try to get some night shots soon and hope I do not disturb his environment. No tags are visible on him and sure state folks may look into its discovery. Nice to see one so close to our farms. Be careful going down the back roads at night folks because you could nearly drive under one of these tall long legged things. that's all for now. Bruce Phelps Remsen,NY

NO animal should prematurely be put down. It's wrong!! They should have just let nature take it's course....so sad. :(

DEC used to always move a bull moose harassing dairy cows. Today due to the high cost of tranquilizing, moving the moose, & the DEC's budget restraints, it's cheaper to just kill it and then fabricate a brain worm story, to quell public opinion.

Yes, the DEC put down the moose after it was observed falling down and appeared to be sick and partially blind. We think that this infection was partially the reason he appeared to be so tame and not afraid of us. It's a shame he had to be put down.
