The DEC and DOH will attend a meeting being held tonight at 7 pm at the Ilion municipal building to address concerns about the findings of contaminants at an old Manufactured Gas Plant site.They will be discussing the findings at that site and residents can find out more about other sites mentioned in what is called the Ilion Project.Many residents that live near these sites have become ill with a wide range of health issues.The report shows that chemicals such as cyanide,PAH's and Btex where found in the ground water both on and off site.There is a total of 9 sites mentioned in The Ilion Project.I would like to see this story mentioned on the news.More Ilion residents need to be aware of the situation.I live in frankfort but my whole family lives in Ilion and I lived near 2 of the sites growing up.I have an email from a project member that explains more.I can forward that email upon request.I also have the web address of the findings.www.DEC.ny.gov/chemical/37560.HTML.Please look into this matter and let the public know.They shouldn't have to sit by unaware of the chemicals invading their homes and threatening their health.
